Durham-based Bioptigen said Thursday that two of its ophthalmic devices have received marketing clearance from the FDA. The hand-held devices allow physicians to image the eyes of children, anesthetized patients and others where it’s difficult for them to stand still. Bioptigen employs about 20 people locally.

Pine Knolls Golf Club, Kernersville’s only golf course, will be auctioned next month with a starting bid of $600,000. The 151-acre golf club was purchased in 2006 by Graham Ruttle and Pearse Mahon for $2.8 million, and includes a swimming pool, a 2,600-square-foot pavilion and 4,937-square-foot clubhouse.
Positive developments for rivals Spotify and iHeartRadio are putting pressure on what has been the kingpin of the Internet radio business, Pandora. Spotify is getting a new round of funding – $220 million – and Clear Channel Communications says its iHeartRadio service has added 10 million registered users over the past eight months.
